Strive to Find Joy in the Journey

I was reading through a number of new (to me) blogs today and came across - Three of a Kind Working on a Full House. One thing that she said really stood out...

Strive to find joy in the journey.

What a powerful statement. Yet so few of us can actually find that joy. It would be so easy if there were an easy button right? If there were an easy button, none of us would be in this situation.

So how do we find the joy? Maybe it would help to walk up to people that do not respect the blessing of having a child and smacking them silly... I know it would make me feel better to do that to several people.

Or maybe to find the joy we have to look towards the positive in each situation. Which I know can be the most difficult part. I still haven't found the positive in our situation. But, maybe I have and I just don't realize it.

So... This song.... Show Me What I'm Looking For (Carolina Liar) has really been speaking to me. Simple, beautiful and to the point. Maybe soon we'll all find joy in our situations... Please enjoy...

I too wish I could find the positive in our situation but I've looked til I'm going crosseyed and yup can't see anything positive!

Maybe some can but I don't believe there is something positive in everyone's ttc journey, some of them are just too heartbreaking.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I have confidence that one day I'll understand what this was meant to teach us. Right now, not so much...and I find myself bitter in the meantime. So, I thank you for sharing "Show Me What I'm Looking For" and also for steering me in the direction of "The Wood Song," too!

FANTASTIC! Thank you for sharing this. I've been in a bad place lately and I'm going to add this song to my Ipod tonight.

Happy ICLW!

Thanks for reiterating this sentiment, it is powerful. And your brutally honest answers are refreshing. I'd feel better doing some smacking too! But I think I'm going to have to settle for being smug in the knowledge of how I will never be as ignorant as they. Even if that's a curse as well as a blessing. Happy ICLW!

Oh I love Carolina Liar! Awesome song. And beautiful message about finding joy in the journey.... I'd definitely be up for some smacking with you girl! Sounds like you're making some great progress with your therapist, seems like your spirit is beginning to heal. Just keep swimming....

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your kind words, as well as mentioning me/my blog here in your post. It was a wonderful suprise to see when I came today to return your comment! :)

I am glad to know that "striving to find joy in the journey" touched you. I too wish it were always that easy. I know that it is not. But I like the idea/concept and do my best to try to find joy whenever/wherever I can in life.

After everything I have been through on my SIF, pregnancy and neonatal loss journey, I no longer believe that "everything happens for a reason." However, I do believe that we can find some/make some good come from most trials that we face in life and that our challenges can and very often do make us stronger, as well as more compassionate/sensative people.

Best wishes on your journey and I hope you find much joy in your life! :)

P.S. That is another great/inspiring song. Thanks for sharing! :)

HAPPY ICLW!

I'm ALWAYS on the look out for the silver lining. It's hard to find sometimes, but I do try.

I wish you to find your positives and your happy ending.

Finding the joy in all of this was something I struggled with and am struggling with again. It would be so much easier to do if you knew things would turn out the way you wanted. I wish I had a crystal ball...

I cannot agree with you more. I have found it SO important to find the joy in the journey and sometimes these small things hide from me, here are some of the positives I have found:

* Baby dancing with my DH has never been a chore (he had a vasectomy) but all about love
* I have discovered that my DH is the king of comforting cuddles
* We are going to beautiful Thailand to try a donor cycle - what a gorgeous place to do a cycle

Sometimes the journey can be tough, sometimes it can be just plain traumatic and it can be difficult to find the positive but it is definitely worth trying.

Thanks for your lovely post...

Finding Joy in the Journey...such good advise, but so hard to do. I need to try harder to be grateful for what I do have. Thanks for the reminder.

I feel like I have a ton I could say but I can't think of anything. I've read through a couple of your last posts :) First thanks for sharing your journey with us. Positive thinking is key to a lot of things, if you can find something good that comes from it, then you can dwell less on the other stuff. For example, TTC helped my husband and I understand each other a little better, we got creative, and we talked a lot about everything ... Things do happen for reasons, and sometimes we don't know until much later why that was...

Stopping by via ICLW :)

I think you might identify with this post.

I love that Carolina Liar song. One Day You Will by Lady Antebellum and Stand Back Up by Sugarland have become my IF theme songs.
